Vucic confirms weekend visit to Kosovo
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed on Friday evening that he would be going to Kosovo for the weekend as planned.
Speaking at a media conference in the Serbian President Buidling which was carried live on national TV, Vucic said he would start the visit with a tour of the Gazivode reservoir.
“I believe that Gazivode is a natural resource for both the Serbs and Albanians,” he said adding that no one had ever planned to leave the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Kosovo Albanians without the water from the reservoir.
Asked what he would do if the Pristina authorities send in the police to stop him from going to Gazivode, he said it’s not in the interest of the Albanians to do what they did with Marko Djuric. “All I can say that this will not happen,” he said,.
“I want to establish much greater trust between Serbs and Albanians. If this generation of politicians does not manage to do that I hope some future generation will,” he said adding that it would be catastrophe for both Albanians and Serbs if that process were to be stopped.
Speaking about the reasons why he did not meet with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in Brussels on Friday, Vucic said there had been pressure on the Serbian authorities over the past few days to force the Kosovo party Serb List to help appoint Fatmir Limaj to head Pristina’s team to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
The president added that he would continue the dialogue with Pristina but warned that a solution was still far away. “A lot of time will pass before we reach an agreement, if we reach an agreement,” he said. Serbia wants peace, stability and cooperation with the Albanians, he said.
