Serbia to change policy if Kosovo is key to Europe
Serbia’s Defence Minister has said that Belgrade should rethink its foreign policy if a relation to Kosovo is the only key issue for the European Union.
Aleksandar Vulin added that the EU was imposing conditions it knew could not be met, thus seeking an excuse not to let Serbia into the block.
“That should be accepted and we should go on our own way,” Vulin said in a comment to the EU delegation chief >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Sem Fabrizi's statement that the relations with Kosovo were a key condition for Serbia to join the Union.
The minister added that the EU had actively participated in creating the Kosovo issue, a statement from his office said.
Fabrizi has said that Kosovo was the key element for Serbia’s entry to the EU, but added not the only one.
Vulin’s statement is the first of a kind coming from an official of the ruling coalition in Serbia.
Belgrade has repeatedly said that its EU membership was its foreign policy main goal of and that it would seek a compromise for the solution of Kosovo problem, regardless of how painful that could be.
