Pro-government group prevents opposition protest
A scheduled protest by opposition groups was stopped violently by members of a pro-government Kosovo Serb organization on Friday.
Members of the Movement of Free Citizens and Civic Block 381 tried to stage a protest in front of the Serbian Presidency building but were prevented from doing so by members of the Association of Kidnapped and Displaced Persons from Kosovo headed by its leader Simo Spasic. Misa Vacic, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << a former official of the government Office for Kosovo and now leader of the Serbian Right organization, was seen among Spasic’s followers at the site of the incident.
The protesters were shoved around and shouted out before the police intervened to prevent a further incident.
Movement of Free Citizens leader Sasa Jankovic told reporters after the incident that the fact that the protest was prevented shows that there is no democracy or free speech in Serbia.
The gathering was part of a series of protests with questions posed to President Aleksandar Vucic.
