Local Serbs: We'll accept any Belgrade solution for Kosovo
The heads of ten Serb-dominated municipalities told Serbia’s President not to give up the struggle for a compromise in Kosovo talks and said they would visit fellow Serbs who Aleksandar Vucic named as advocates of the former province’s independence, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.
In a letter to Vucic, they added they would back “any solution, be it separation, correction (of borders, favoured by Kosovo >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << President Hashim Thaci) or something else.”
The letter came a day after the main local Serb party, backed by Belgrade, expressed their backing to Vucic.
The mayors said they supported his struggle for “a just, compromising and sustainable solution that would mean a better future not only for the Serbs in Kosovo but the nation as a whole.”
They further said that Vucic should continue his efforts despite, "the jubilation from Pristina,” and in spite of "the foreign embassies’ favourites and their poltroons, like (opposition leaders from Serbia) Vuk Jeremic and Dragan Djilas, (a Serb opposition politician from Kosovo) Rada Trajkovic and a church elder from Kosovo Sava Janjic.”
Vucic named some of them on Tuesday as known opponents to any other solution to Kosovo except the recognition of its independence.
In the letter to the president, the Serb mayors said: “If somehow there is no solution because of their harmful actions, we will be forced to go to their apartments and villas to ask them why they did it to the Serb people.”
