Kosovo’s President thanks Quinta group for support
Hashim Thaci, the President of Kosovo, thanked the ambassadors of the so-called Quinta group and the European Union chief representative to Pristina for the support they had been giving to the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue, a statement from his office said on Monday.
The Quinta Group is made up of the US, Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy.
“We salute your unified stand that the dialogue is the only >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << way to move forward toward Euro-Atlantic integration and full normalisation of the relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” Thaci said.
He added that “the success of the process depends on the political unity in Kosovo, but also on the unity within the Quinta Group.”
The Belgrade – Pristina dialogue has been on hold since Thaci and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic last met in early September, and in the meantime, some events suggested an uncertainty of its continuation.
Thaci said that Kosovo was close to joining the Interpol, and suggested that there should not be any delay in the talks on visa liberalisation for Pristina.
He added that the work on three laws regarding the transformation of Kosovo Security Forces into an army was under way, adding that the process was unstoppable and irreversible, done cautiously and in full coordination with the international partners.
Belgrade strongly opposes the transformation and insists that NATO forces (KFOR) should remain in Kosovo in their full scope and responsibility.
