According to the indictment, 38.8 muillion Euros were paid every year into the accounts of 19,060 people who claimed to be but were not KLA veterans. Kosovo’s state Prosecutor Aleksandar Lumezi confirmed that an investigation found that 19,000 people had illegally been awarded war veteran status, adding that Blakaj resigned following threats and accusations by some of the people he indicted.
Lumezi said arrest warrants had been issued for suspected war criminals who were investigated by Blakaj before he resigned.
