Kosovo Serb teacher refuses to attend Vucic rally

A Kosovo Serb school teacher has publicly refused to attend a rally during Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s visit over the coming weekend.

Biology teacher Bogoljub Milosevic, a resident of the town of Kosovska Kamenica, published a picture of his hand-written statement in which he refuses to attend the rally in Kosovska Mitrovica, disobeying instructions from the headmistress of the school in which he teaches.

Milosevic told N1 that he wrote the statement >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << at the demand of headmistress Jadranka Vasic who ordered school staff to put their names on a list of people attending the rally or confirm in writing that they refused.

The teacher said he does not expect to be punished but added that many fellow teachers are going to the rally fearing possible consequences and believing that the trip is an on the job obligation.

“I simply do not support Vucic and no one can force me to go to Mitrovica and applaud him for telling me that I should agree to live in Greater Albania,” Milosevic said, adding that people in Kosovo are being used like puppets.

“If Vucic knows that his associates are pressuring people and forcing them to lend support, then that is shameful. And if he does not know, then he should get to know the situation and see what kind of people he is surrounded by and what those people are doing in his name,” the teacher said.
