Kosovo PM rejects possible early elections

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has rejected the possibility of early elections after the Serb List announced that it would quit the ruling coalition over the decision to impose higher tariffs on goods imported from Serbia.

“The government could fall but not because the Serb List has been angered by a decision (to raise tariffs on goods imported from Serbia),” the Koisovo state TV (RTK) reported him as saying at a regular news conference, and adding that the decision >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << on tariffs was part of a dispute between Kosovo and Serbia, not with the Serb List.

Pristina daily Epoka reported the prime minister as saying that elections are not on his cabinet’s agenda, adding that he is focused on the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union and membership in Interpol.

Haradinaj said that Pristina could expect to come under pressure in the final stages of the dialogue with Belgrade through the powers of the Community of Serb Municipalities whose forming has been agreed as part of the 2013 Brussels agreement but has not been implemented yet.

“We can reasonably expect that to be used as a form of pressure, along with territories and borders but when this wave of ideas passes we will discuss internal organization,” he said.
