Kosovo Constitutional Court blocked

Kosovo’s Constitutional Court won’t have the required number of judges to take decisions as of June 15 because the terms in office of three of them have expired.

The Constitutional Court needs the votes of at least seven judges to take decisions and make rulings but will now have only six after the Kosovo parliament failed to elect three Albanian judges on May 22. The president of Kosovo also decided not to >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << sign a decree appointing Serb judge Radomir Laban because of reports that he was sentenced to a prison term.

Experts said that new judges could be appointed to the Constitutional Court in the first half of July at the earliest which means no decisions can be taken until then, including any rulings on a draft statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities which has to be in line with the constitution of Kosovo.
