Italian minister says KFOR will keep the peace
Italian Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta told Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Monday that KFOR will continue playing an important role in maintaining peace and stability and protecting Serbs and other non-Albanian in Kosovo.
A press release from the president’s cabinet said that Vucic and Trenta agreed that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue needs to continue but the president voiced concern over Pristina’s efforts to set up a military force which is not allowed under >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << any international document. He expressed hope that Italy understands that irresponsible moves like this can jeopardize peace and stability and lead to tragic consequences, warning that Serbia would be pushed into a corner if a Kosovo military were to deploy in the north.
The Italian minister is quoted as saying that official Rome feels that Serbia is crucial to the peace and stability of the Western Balkans. She said her country appreciates Serbia’s decision to cooperate with NATO, especially the deployment of its military personnel on UN and European Union peace missions.
