Belgrade says will seriously react to Kosovo leader’s visit
The head of Serbia’s government Office for Kosovo said on Thursday Belgrade would react “seriously, responsibly and with dignity” to an invitation for a visit of Pristina’s official to the Bosniak - dominated town of Novi Pazar, state RTS television reported.
Commenting on Novi Pazar's invitation to Behgjet Pacolli, Kosovo’s deputy Foreign Minister, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to visit the town on July 21 and 22, Marko Djuric told the RTS that “they expect us to react inappropriately or by force,” but instead, “we will react properly as a state.”
“We will protect the dignity of the Serbs and all other Serbia’s citizens and won’t allow anyone to wander arround our territory,” Djuric said, without elaborating further.
The Bosniak National Council invited Pacolli for a visit in his official capacity.
Bosniak Muslims predominately populate Novi Pazar, the centre of Serbia's south-western region of Sandzak.
Their leaders are often at odds with Belgrade, complaining about their status in the country, mainly because what they say is the lack of proportional representation in the regional institutions.
The constitution stipulates that the percentage of officials should reflect the breakdown of the population.
