Exchange of experience with Sweden in PPP
President of The City Assembly, Mr. Milan Urošević and Vice President, Mrs. Slavica Kominac have received Ms. Agneta Carleson, a Swedish journalist that worked on creating the communication strategy of this European country, dealt with the matters such as human rights, workers’ rights, women’s rights and children’s rights. She gained experience in the Syndicate Union of Sweden and «Olof Palme International Center».
Ms. Agneta Carlson has visited Kragujevac to transfer her experience >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Kragujevac.rs << in the field of public-private partnership to representatives of Syndicates in Public Utility Service of the City and Region.
“It is my pleasure to be in Kragujevac today, and to have a chance to hear your experiences in the privatization of the public sector, because this issue has again been raised in Sweden after the arrival of social-democratic party in December.” According to Ms. Agneta Carlson a complete privatization of this sector has brought mixed results and problems in the quality level of services, especially in health services and education, because the owners have focused more with the profit instead of providing quality services. Thus, a question is being discussed now in Sweden whether the privatization of the public sector has gone too far and they are trying to find a way to find the middle ground where both owners and citizens would be satisfied, explained Ms. Carleson.
“Having in mind that the local self-government of Kragujevac wishes to enter the process of public-private partnership, it is of great significance o hear the experiences of Sweden in the process of privatization and it is also important that our syndicates will have a chance to hear that the situation in Sweden is not as we perceive it, that all services are public and guaranteed to the citizens,” stated Mr. Milan Urošević. “These experiences are precious, as there is often fear of private partnership or privatization and the only thing that is necessary to be done is to harmonize the rules and regulations so that the utility service sector would continue to operate normally if not better, after the privatization,” said President of the City Assembly, Mr. Milan Urošević.
After the reception in the Town Hall, our Swedish guest will have a working meeting with the representatives of city and regional board of syndicates of employees in utility service institutions.
