Samir Allioui is the founder and leader of the Dutch Pirate Party.
The Dutch Pirate Party is a member of Pirate Parties International where Samir is currently serving as co-president. He is 28 years of age and has a long history of engagement in information policy ranging from hactivism in the early 21st century leading up to his current involvement in the parliamentary aspects of policy making. He uses first person shooter games for stress relief and finds B films a remedy against insomnia.
The first Pirate Party, Piratpartiet, was founded in Sweden 2006 and quickly gave rise to many other political parties all over the world, with over 40 countries having a Pirate Party at present. Emerging from Austria only 6 months later came an international collaboration within which Samir quickly found a place. He has been coordinating the different issues concerning organization, management and issues concerning the rise of new and local parties ampersand their priorities.
During the course of this work, there has been strong opposition from many avenues, seeking to obstruct his work into government and electoral reforms, and opposing the formation of new political parties. Starting 2011 he is supporting many new information policies that are developing in the MENA countries and strongly supports their democratization processes by not only using words as most politicians do, but by actual activities. This involved for example projects for Wikileaks and providing secure communication infrastructure and coordination for pirates around the globe.
In the Netherlands his primary focus has been on civil liberties in information society at large, european directives that are corrosive towards peoples fundamental rights and the restoration of the free market equilibrium.
