Metronomy

Joseph Mount started Metronomy while he was still living in Devon as a side project to the various bands he played drums for.
Using an outdated computer sold to him by his father, Mount began to make his own electronic compositions. The name Metronomy was originally chosen by Mount as Metronomy sounded cool and interesting and was in keeping with the bands he was heavily into, namely Autechre and Funkstorung.
Metronomy released their debut album, a largely instrumental electro-pop affair titled 'Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe),' in June 2006. However, Joseph admits that he only, finally, saw the commercial possibilities of Metronomy when Erol Alkan began to feature the single ‘You Could Easily Have Me’ in his sets, and asked Metronomy to play at his club. Thus, a proper live show was needed, and the additions of Gabriel, Oscar, dance routines and clothes that blink came along.
With a sound inspired by everyone from Devo and David Bowie to N.E.R.D. and Pavement, Metronomy earned buzz for their engaging dance-meets-rock live show as well as official and unoffical remixes of tracks by Gorillaz, Architecture in Helsinki, Sebastien Tellier, and Britney Spears.
