IN APATIN OPEN 55. MILITARY WORLD CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, opened today at the Sports Hall Elementary School “Zarko Zrenjanin” 55. World Military Cross Country Championships to be held in Apatin motto “Friendship through Sport”. This event organized by the Serbian delegation at the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and the Ministry of >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Radio Dunav << Defense of Serbia in cooperation with the municipality of Apatin city of Sombor and Athletic Federation of Serbia and the participating members of the armed forces from 23 countries with 317 participants. Participation in the implementation of this sporting event and took the Youth Office Apatin with its volunteers.
Vucic was handed a medal at the “Grand Officer”, CISM, which assigns the highest state officials, and the president of the municipality Apatin, Dr. Zivorad Smiljanic, who welcomed the participants on behalf of the host city, received the medal on the occasion of exceptional contributions to the development of military sports, the strengthening of peace and the promotion of goals and ideals enshrined in the slogan CISM.
CISM Representative, Lieutenant Colonel of the armed forces of Bahrain, Abdulhakeem M. Al-shino, this award is presented by the head of the Serbian delegation at the CISM Colonel Dragan Djenin.
Vucic said that this medal committed us to improving military sport in Serbia and to contribute to the strengthening of world peace and international cooperation.
- The Serbian Army will always be part of our nation. Through sport we develop peace and friendship, but we always hope that it will be necessary to know to preserve and defend our homeland. Today, our military, and our country, is recognized and respected throughout the world – said Vucic.
It is no small thing to host military personnel from 22 countries – said the defense minister telling the athletes, visitors from 22 countries, that Serbia can feel at home and were welcomed by the people who always knew how to host your friends.
Al-rail in his speech said that they are very pleased to be in this beautiful city and surrounded by wonderful people, with the message that these competitions are no losers, because we all believe in the motto “Friendship through Sport”.
Serbia through the organization of this competition promotes the motto, and it’s prosperity and world peace through sports. I am impressed with how everything is organized in a very short period of time, and at such a high level – said Al-Sinu.
On the opening of event were the Serbian Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Ljubisa Diković, on behalf of the Sponsor, Serbia Gas Company director Dusan Bajatovic, and cultural and artistic part of the opening was attended by members of the singing group “Lazarice” KUD “Prigrevica”, GKUD a “Danube” from Apatin, members of KUD “Jozsef Attila” from Svilojeva and majorettes from Sonta.
Competitive part of the season will be held tomorrow at OFK “Youth” at 10 am and there will be two races in the men’s competition with a path length of 11.1 kilometers and 4.9 kilometers long and one race in the women’s field length of 4,9 kilometers. The medal presentation provided on the same day in 18 hours and 30 minutes in Sport Hall Elementary School “Zarko Zrenjanin”.
