Two arrested for pollution in northern Serbia
Two people have been arrested in Vojvodina on charges of illegally importing and storing hazardous waste.
The police in the town of Kikinda arrested two managers of the FCC EKO company suspected of polluting the environment, importing hazardous materials and illegally processing and storing those materials.
They are suspected of disposing of hazardous materials in several places within a regional landfill in that part of Vojvodina.
Earlier this year, several people were arrested when investigators found illegal hazardous waste dumps on private land in the Obrenovac municipalitiy just outside Belgrade.
