Yura denies reports of planned move to Albania

The South Korean Yura Corporation has been reported to be moving part of its production from Serbia to Albania but the company has denied any such move, Serbian media reported on Monday.

The Jugmedia portal, which reports on events in southern Serbia, said it had learned from Yura employees at the plant in Leskovac that the corporation was planning to move its floor cable production to Albania. The floor cable plant in Leskovac employs more than 1,000 people.

The Yura >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << management responded with a statement saying that the report was completely inaccurate. “In regard to the article which said that workers are being fired and production being moved to Albania, we can only deny that and say that those claims are completely inaccurate,” it said.

Leskovac Mayor Goran Cvetanovic said that the contract with the Yura corporation specifically states that it is under obligation to keep all its employees to the year 2021. He added that almost another 1,000 people will get jobs in Yura’s existing facilities and a new plant.

Yura also has plants in two other places in Serbia. The plant in Leskovac was opened in 2012 with state subsidies of 7,000 Euros for each new employee with guarantees that no one would be fired in the next five years.
