Wizz Air to end Nis-Malmo flights

Wizz air will not be flying from the Nis city airport in southern Serbia to the Swedish town of Malmo as of January 7, 2019, the airport management said on Thursday.

A statement said that Wizz Air, Ryanair and Swiss will maintain their flights to and from the Constantine the Great (Konstantin Veliki) airport. Those three airlines have 11 regular lines out of Nis city airport with Wiz Air announcing flights to Vienna in 2019.

Wizz Air is reported to have offered alternative >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << flights, refunds or credit for travellers who booked flights to Malmo from Nis.

The Nis-Malmo line was started in mid-2015 with some 32,000 people travelling between the two cities every year.

The Nis city airport was the subject of protests earlier this year following a decision by the city authorities to hand it over to the Serbian government. Protest organizers claimed that the reason for the decision was the awarding of a concession for Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport and added that flights to and from Nis would be discontinued as part of the concession agreement with the French company Vinci.
