Serbia’s opposition to collect signatures for Vucic’s ouster
Serbia’s opposition “Civil Bloc 381,” said on Wednesday it would start collecting signatures for the overthrow of President Aleksandar Vucic on October 5, on the 18th anniversary of the dismissal of late strongman Slobodan Milosevic, N1 reported.
On October 5, at 6 pm we will remind (people) that it is possible to overthrow a dictatorship. We will walk the streets of Belgrade to make them think about the country we live in today,” Sasa Jankovic, the Bloc’s leader said.

He added he would continue collecting the signatures as long as Vucic was in power. His coalition partners said that Serbia was a democratic country and that it was his (Jankovic’s) legitimate right.
On October 5, 2000, massive demonstrations erupted in Belgrade with people pouring from all parts of the country to the capital protesting over what they said was an election theft organised by Milosevic’s regime.
He failed to use serious police and army forces to suppress the protest and eventually conceded defeat to the opposition candidate Vojislav Kostunica.
