Serbia's official: draft law doesn't protect human rights

A new law of the protection of personal information drafted by Serbia’s Justice Ministry would gravely affect the protection of human rights if adopted, Rodoljub Sabic said.

The statement from the office of the Commissioner for information of public importance and personal data protection said on Wednesday  that “the draft causes great concern, along with the way in which it was prepared, including an alleged public discussion.”

It added that the third version >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of the draft, “clearly ignores the most important remarks, not only from the Commissioner but also from a large number of participants in the debate.”

“If it were approved, it would seriously endanger the protection of human rights.”

Sabic said that even though some deficiencies were removed, the last version was still “below acceptable standard.”
