Serbia’s lawyers protest over colleague's murder
Serbia's lawyers gathered on Tuesday outside the Higher Court in Belgrade to send a message that the killing of their colleague over the weekend was a shot at all of them, N1 reported.
Dragoslav Misa Ognjanovic was gunned down outside his home in New Belgrade on Saturday, and his son was lightly injured.
The lawyers said that an attack on a lawyer was an attack on the conduct of justice and warned that it was a short way between the killing of a lawyer and assault on >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << a judge or prosecutor.
In the meantime, Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic met with the representatives of the Bar Association and agreed to form a Permanent Body which would closely watch all cases of attacks on lawyers.
They also agreed to work to improve the legal protection of lawyers.
Kuburovic called on the respective authorities to take all necessary measures to discover a motive behind Ognjanovic’s murder and find those responsible as soon as possible.
