Serbia’s Vucic: Talks complicated, agreement on two issues
Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic described his meeting with Pristina’s delegation in Brussels as “extremely complicated” adding that the Albanians tried to secure everything for themselves, while Belgrade was looking for a compromise.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting facilitated by the European Union diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini, Vucic said there were two issues the two sides agreed upon.
“We agreed to continue the talks to find common >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << ground for a compromising solution, and also how to preserve peace and stability in the Belgrade – Pristina relations,” Vucic said.
Asked whether Belgrade was ready to recognise Kosovo’s independence, Vucic replied with a question: “And where's a compromise there?”
“This does not function like that. We have to try to reach a compromise about many important issues,” he said, adding that "a compromise would be reached when neither side could say they were completely satisfied with the achieved.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the European Commission (EC) said that Mogherini and the presidents of Serbia and Kosovo “examined the progress in the talks about the framework for a legally binding document on normalisation of relations.”
