Serbia’s GDP growth under 4 percent this year
Serbia will record a GDP growth of less than 4 percent this year, an expert from the Belgrade Economics Institute said on Thursday adding that the 4.8 percent growth in the first half of the year was exaggerated.
“The higher than expected rise of the GDP was caused by good results in the agriculture, construction and some service industries while industrial production and the processing industry showed loesser growth which could speed up economic growth in the long term,” >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Institute expert Stojan Stamenkovic said at a presentation of the latest issue of the Macroeconomic Analyses and Trends (MAT) monthly newsletter which is published in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Stamenkovic welcomed government plans to abolish the law which reduced pensions in November 2014 and to use part of the budget surplus to raise pensions. “A budget surplus is not good for an economy the size and strength of Serbia’s because it eliminates demand which stimulates production,” he said.
