Serbia’s Finance Minister & IMF: Fiscal discipline to contin
Minister of Finance in Serbia’s Government and the chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Serbia said on Monday that the country should preserve the so far achieved fiscal discipline.
Sinisa Mali and James Ruff agreed that the reduction in public debt and the empowerment of democratic institutions were significant for Serbia’s future and could contribute to a stronger economy and new jobs.
The IMF delegation is on a three-day visit to Belgrade.

A statement following Monday’s meeting added the two discussed the announced increase of pensions and the salaries in the public sector, and a package of stimulative measures aimed to improve a business climate and boost the competitiveness.
Mali and Ruff agreed that a new programme "The Policy Coordination Instrument" (PCI) was essential for a faster and more sustainable economy, the income growth and preservation of the macro-economy and fiscal stability.
