Serbia’s Fin Min pays € 1,700 to stop legal action
Sinisa Mali, Serbia’s Finance Minister was ordered to pay some 1,700 Euros for humanitarian purposes for a prosecutor to stop a procedure against him for allegedly failing to report his entire property, the Crime and Corruption Reporting Network (KRIK) said on Monday.
The KRIK, Serbia’s partner of the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), said that the information came from the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s office in Belgrade and that Mali paid the amount >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << the same day.
It added that no other procedure was underway against Mali by any prosecutor’s office.
The network said it published a series of investigative stories about (the then Belgrade Mayor) Mali three years ago, prompting the Agency for Fighting Corruption to start an investigation.
The Agency then informed the Higher Prosecutor’s Office about its suspicions related to a number of crime involving Mali, including money laundering.
The Office said Mali did not commit any of the alleged crimes, and send the case to the First Basic Prosecutors which was only checking his property card.
