Serbians have almost 10 billion Euros in savings
The population of Serbia has a total of 9.8 billion Euros in foreign currency savings in banks, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.
Savings in the national currency total 57.1 billion Dinars (1 Euro – 119 Dinars).
According to the report, the level of foreign currency savings rose by 4.6 percent in 2017 while Dinar savings rose by 13.8 percent.
Commercial banks in Serbia offer interest rates of 0.3 to 1.3 percent on timed savings deposits and from one ot four percent for Dinar savings.
The figures were released on World Savings day which was launched in the mid-1990s to raise public awareness about the importance of savings.
