Serbian registers to be digitalized by year’s end

The Serbian state administration will digitalize all of its registers of births, deaths and marriages by the end of this year in line with the new law on registers which parliament passed this week the Ministry of State Administration and Local Government said on Thursday.

Minister Branko Ruzic said that the purchase of the equipment needed to complete the job is the best possible thing because it allows quick and easy access to registers of births, deaths and marriages. “That >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << means that there will be no paper copies of registers unless someone specifically wants one,” Ruzic said at a presentation of the new equipment at the State Data Centre.

Ruzic said 30 percent less copies were printed this year and added that the citizenship register will be digitalized next.

The ministry press release said the 33.6 million Dinars (285,000 Euro) to buy the equipment came from the Ministry budget and is part of the Stop Bureaucracy project.
