Serbian opposition leader: Pink, Informer factories of lies
Serbian opposition leader Dragan Djilas on Friday accused of the heads of a pro-government TV and tabloid newspaper of publishing lies and insults against opponents of the authorities.
Djilas, one of the founders of the Alliance for Serbia, said in a press release that TV Pink owner Zeljko Mitrovic and Informer tabloid editor in chief Dragan Vucicevic were “managers of factories of lies, not media”.
Commenting his law suit for slander and hate speech against Mitrovic >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and Vucicevic, Djilas said that their only job was to keep President Aleksandar Vucic in power. “That is their right but not at the expense of anyone’s honour, safety or even life. They call anyone who uses their own head scum, bandit, thief and fascist. They are threatening us with arrest, causing problems not just for us but also for our families. That fans hatred against opponents in the worst manner of totalitarian regimes,” he said.
He said that he has filed more than 30 law suits to defend himself from what he said were “dangerous lies”. “The media that I win against like TV Pink pay a fine of a thousand or two Euro but never publish the court ruling even though they are obliged to do so and millions of people don’t know the truth and Pink, Informer and others like them continue their lies,” Djilas said.
He said that he expects the prosecutor to throw out the charges he filed to fight for decency and responsibility to return to Serbia.
