Serbian minister says pensions higher as of October 1
Pensions are higher as of October 1 and the first higher payments will be made in November, Serbian Labour Minister Zoran Djordjevic said on Monday.
The minister, who is also in charge of employment, veterans’ and social issues, told TV Pink that pensions will be higher by eight to 13.2 percent following the abolishing of the law which temporarily reduced pension over the past few years.
He added that the new law on pension and disability insurance simplifies procedures >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and brings benefits to miners as well as solving the retirement and pension problems for military personnel who served in former Yugoslav republics. “We didn’t have their employment records and we gave them a minimum but now we will be using salary level data from their years in service,” he said.
Djordjevic said the level of pension payments will be regulated by the budget law with the government trying to increase pensions to keep in step with the growth of budget income and with inflation.
The minister said the protests by mothers and pregnant women against the law on support for families with children was “a political protest”.
