Serbian journalist’s attacker released
A man charged with assaulting Serbian journalist Stefan Cvetkovic has plea bargained his way out of jail.
The man identified only by the initials SZ, who was charged earlier for a similar assault on Cvetkovic, reached a plea bargain with the Public Prosecutor in Vrsac and was released pending trial. He has been charged with inflicting bodily harm on Cvetkovic by striking him with a blunt instrument on July 9.
Stefan Cvetkovic disappeared for two days in June and the police >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << launched a search for him. He said later that he had been abducted. Cvetkovic voiced dissatisfaction with the plea bargain, reiterating his claim that SZ tried to kill him. “He hit me on the head with a metal bar, cracking my skull and I will continue pressing charges. I don’t understand why they released him since he is on parole,” he told the Beta news agency.
He added that je was informed that SZ was questioned by the police when he was abducted.
