Serbian firefighters getting more personnel, equipment
Serbia will get another 150 firefighters this year and new vehicles next year, the country’s Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Monday.
The minister said some 3,000 firefighter uniforms will be supplied by October, adding that 60 new firefighting and rescue vehicles will be deployed across the country by mid-2019. “We are also trying to secure flood rescue equipment. We now have almost 3,000 people in the civilian protection service and can react rapidly to >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << floods or earthquakes,” Stefanovic said.
Speaking at a final exercise for cadets undergoing basic firefighting and rescue training, the minister said the 28 cadets started their training in March and will get jobs in the firefighting and rescue service.
Firefighters and rescue services are part of the Internal Affairs Ministry Emergency Situations Sector.
“We will try to bring in the same number of people next year and make sure all police stations have firefighters,” Stefanovic said.
