Serbian President warns of difficult month ahead

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic warned on Tuesday that the next month will be difficult because of the steps he expects the government in Pristina to take.

Speaking after a meeting of the Serbian government with Kosovo Serb political leaders, Vucic said that official Pristina is expected to announce the forming of a military on November 28, the Albanian national holiday, and called the Kosovo Serbs not to take part in the forming of the Kosovo military saying that “the Albanians >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << are forming it for no other reason than to use it to shoot at Serbs one day”.

“My request to the international community is not to do that. Do not lead Serbia into a position with no way out because we cannot and will not abandon our people and state,” he said. “We will keep the peace and maintain stability in every way but we won’t let anyone expell, persecute or kill the Serb population,” Vucic said.

He added that Pristina would try to take over the power infrastructure in northern Kosovo. He voiced concern over reports from the Serbian power supplier EMS that the Kosovo authorities want to cut off the supply of electricity from Novi Pazar in western Serbia to the north of Kosovo.

He said the power situation would be debated in European institutions on November 6 and a decision on the issue taken three days later and recalled that, under the Brussels agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, two power production and supply companies were to have been formed and managed by the Community of Serb Municipalities which was never formed.

The president said that Serbia will oppose Pristina’s planned activities, including its efforts to join Interpol.   Vucic said that he did not get any for his proposed solution for the Kosovo problem from Brussels or Pristina. He added that it’s no secret that Serbia is under pressure to recognize Kosovo but that he is ready to resist that pressure.

The president said more than 6 billion Dinars (around 50 million Euros) would be invested in majority-Serb areas of Kosovo to help get some factories started and build what he said would be “a beautiful clinical centre” in Kosovska Mitrovica and a hospital in Gracanica. He said investments would be made in agriculture as well.

Vucic said the investments would be based on projects in a process which would be strictly controlled.
