Serbian President explains why he cancelled RS visit
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Friday expressed regret that he won’t be attending the opening of a hospital in Eastern Sarajevo just prior to Sunday’s elections in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Vucic cancelled the visit to the part of Sarajevo which is in the Republika Srpska (RS) at the request of that entity’s President Milorad Dodik.
In his letter to Dodik, Vucic said that he understands why he was asked not to attend the ceremony. “That shows your >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << responsibility and the care for the interests of the Serb people,” he wrote adding that the attacks against Serbia during the election campaign are nothing new.
Vucic recalled that Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic visited Bosnia-Herzegovina earlier this week with no reaction from the European Union or “accusations that Croatia was directly interfering in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s internal affairs”.
The Serbian president ended his letter to Dodik, wishing the RS and Bosnia-Herzegovina “peaceful, democratic and successful elections”.
