Serbian Customs sets up brands data base
The Serbian Customs Administration has set up a data base for brands, brand rights and proceedings to protect intellectual property, Deputy Director Sonja Lazarevic said on Thursday.
“The European Commission gave top marks to Serbia’s efforts to protect intellectual property in its latest annual report. The Customs Administration is in charge of implementing Chapter 29 – Customs Union and is expected to contribute significantly to Chapter 7 which covers intellectual property,” >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Lazarevic told a meeting on World Intellectual Property Day 2018 at the Intellectual Property Office.
As an example of efforts to combat crimes against intellectual property, Lazarevic said that Serbian customs officers seized 1.5 million pieces of fake brand-name condiments in 2017 and destroyed more than a quarter million of those.
