Serbia ready to open five more chapters, Minister Joksimovic

Serbia has drawn up positions for five more chapters in its pre-accession negotiations with the European Union, Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic said on Friday.

The Minister said she does not expect all five chapters to be opened. “I expect more than two to be opened,” she said.

Serbia has prepared positions for Chapters 9 (financial services), 13 (fisheries), 17 (economic and monetary policy), 18 (statistics) and 33 (financial and budgetary provisions), >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << she said.

“The continued [Belgrade-Pristina] dialogue includes the clear expectation that all previous agreement will be implemented so that we can discuss new topics,” Joksimovic said and added that the 2013 Brussels Agreement is a legally binding document signed by then European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton which means that it has “become a part of EU foreign and security policy”.

EU foreign and security policy chief Federica Mogherini said in Belgrade on Thursday Serbia was on a good path towards the block’s membership and that EU could open new negotiating chapters with the country during the Bulgarian EU Presidency which ends in June.
