Serbia, UNICEF working to improve position of children
The Serbian government’s gender equality body and UNICEF have signed a document to improve cooperation in preventing child marriages, violence against children, the social inclusion of Roma children and upgrading digital literacy, a press release said on Wednesday.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic as head of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality and UNICEF’s representative in Serbia Regina De Dominicis who said that efforts >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << will be invested to secure access to books and education for the children who are worst off.
De Dominicis said that the memorandum shows that the two institutions are committed to improving the position of children and young people.
“There is no more important job than protecting our children and fighting to make their childhood carefree, to make sure that they are educated and to prevent child marriages which are especially present in the Roma community,” Mihajlovic said.
