Serbia, Montenegro ministers sign border control agreements

Interior Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Mevludin Nuhodzic, signed on Wednesday seven cooperation agreements and two protocols on border traffic and border control between the two countries, announcing they would improve their cooperation in fighting organised crime and illegal migrations.

The signed documents regulate six border crossings between Serbia and Montenegro, and the border traffic agreement stipulates crossing the border for the residents of >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << border areas, Serbian Interior Ministry said.

“We have defined 21 locations where the state border can be crossed, apart from the official border crossings. That is extremely important for our people who live in border areas, because it will simplify their movement and crossing the border as part of their everyday lives,” the Interior Minister of Montenegro, Mevludin Nuhodzic, said.

The ministers said that the police forces of both countries will work on their cooperation with the aim of putting a stop to organised crime.

“In our fight against organised crime, we have no other choice but to come out on top, and show the people of Serbia and Montenegro that we can break organised crime rings by working together and exchanging information,” Stefanovic said.

He added that the agreements on border traffic and control will further contribute to resolving the issue of illegal migrations, but that neither Serbia nor Montenegro can serve as a "parking zone for migrants".
