Serbia Goes Blue for Every Child on World Children's Day

A number of public buildings in Belgrade were flooded with blue lights on Tuesday to mark World Children's Day under the slogan Go Blue for Every Child.

Blue lights were pointed at the national parliament, the Albanija building on Terazije square, the bridge across the Sava at Ada, the fountain on Slavija circle among others.

World Children's Day has been marked by UNICEF across the globe since 1989.

A ceremony in the Serbian parliament was told by Minister >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << in charge of population policy Slavica Djukic Dejanovic that children have to be protected, healthy with basic education. She said that just 17 percent of the Serbian population is under the age of 17.

The UNICEF office in Serbia said in a press release that it had teamed up with street artists to paint murals at two elementary schools in Belgrade with local and refugee children.

UNICEF Serbia chief Regina De Dominicis said that concrete changes can only be done together and added that the welfare of children is an obligation for all society.
