Serbia, Gazprom agree to develop gas pipelines
Serbian Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said of Friday that he reached agreement with the Russian energy corporation Gazprom to expand the gas transport system in Serbia.
The agreement covers long-term cooperation, increasing the capacities of underground natural gas storage facilities and expanding the gas pipeline system from the border with Bulgaria to the border with Hungary, Antic said in Saint Petersburg. The Serbian minister met with Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Gazpromnyeft >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << CEO Aleksander Dyukov on the margins of an economic forum.
“Serbia has chosen long-term cooperation with Gazprom and we discussed the developing of the gas transport system in Serbia, especially the pipeline from Bulgaria to Hungary and the expanding of joint underground gas storage facilities,” Antic said, adding that the storage facilities could be increased from the current 450 million cubic metres to 750 million or even to a billion cubic metres.
The Russian Energy Ministry said that Ministers Aleksandar Novak and Antic met to discuss cooperation on gas and oil and joint energy projects. “Intensive efforts are being invested to develop the Serbian gas system in line with the Turkish Stream project,” the press release said.
