On Saturday, March 24th the local theater in Niš showed a musical ‘Šmizle’. It portrays two friends, one owning a pub and another working and living with an aggressive husband. After one of them is fired, the two friends decide to start their own band – an all-women band. The audience is brought to go crazy with laughter while the two friends are auditioning women for their band. None of them seemed to be good at either singing or playing an instrument. Since only three of them applied, the two friends have no other choice but to hire the three girls. Upon their decision, another much younger girl enters dressed up like a hip-hop dancer. She appears to be lost, as she thought the audition was for a younger band; she did not expect to see women in their thirties at the audition.
The musical is filled with funny remarks on men’s intelligence, but there are also many useful pieces of advice present for young girls. As the ladies grow closer, the audience feels more involved in the musical, as if the audience itself were a part of it: the life stories of the ladies become our stories and as the band matures and gets better, we, as the audience, are filled with pleasure and we feel more satisfied.
Overall, it is an amusing musical, which brings out laughter and joy – perfect to make your night out even more enjoyable.
