Retired Serbian soldiers protest over pensions
A group of Serbian military pensioners protested on Wednesday in front of the government headquarters, demanding that they receive equal treatment with civilian pensioners.
The protest organizers said they have been discriminated for the past 10 years and explained that civilian pensioners had received raises which were never granted to them. They recalled that the Constitutional Court ruled in their favour but that the government decided to lower their pensions anyway.

Military pensions are paid out under different regulations than civilian pensions in Serbia. The military pensioners filed suit several years ago claiming that their pensions were actually lowered by the national pension fund when they were supposed to have been brought in line with civilian pensions as of December 2007.
