Remains of Serb war victims exhumed in Croatia
The remains of 15 people killed in Croatian military operation Storm in 1995 have been exhumed in Karlovac County and will be taken to Zagreb for DNA identification, the Serbian government’s Missing Persons’ Commission said on Tuesday.
The six-day exhumations of remains from six registered grave sites and cemeteries was completed on October 23, the Commission said in a press release, adding that the remains are of Serbs killed in the operation at the end of the war in Croatia. >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Operation Storm was launched by the Croatian authorities to regain control over the self-proclaimed Republic of Serb Krajina in central and western parts of the country.
According to a preliminary report, the forensic teams found the remains of five females and eight males along with two sets of remains whose gender they could not identify. The press release said the remains would be examined at the Forensic Medicine department of the Zagreb University School of Medicine.
Representatives of the Serbian government Commission were present at the exhumations under inter-state agreements with the Croatian government.
