Protest over Macedonia turns violent in Greece
Several thousand Greeks stage a protest in Thesaloniki over the Skoplje-Athens agreement to change the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
The protesters first marched to the consulate of Macedonia and then to the offices of the local branches of the ruling Greek coalition parties Syriza and Independent Greeks.
The protest ended with police firing tear gas to disperse the crowd after followers of right-wing parties broke into the party offices.

The Prime Ministers of Greece and Macedonia, Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev signed an agreement on June 17 to resolve the dispute over the name Macedonia, drawing protests on both sides of the border including from Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov who opposes changing the name of the former Yugoslav republic to Northern Macedonia.
