Protest demands higher support for new mothers in Serbia
The Mothers Rule (Mame su Zakon) organization staged a gathering in Serbia’s southern city of Nis on Thursday to demand changes to the law on financial support for families with children.
The gathering organizers banned any political insignia from the protest but some in the crowd carried banners reading – Disaster in Nis, No Money for Children, No one Cares But Mothers and other things.
Spokeswoman, MP Tatjana Macura told the crowd that the organization was not abandoning >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << its demand for immediate changes to parts of the new law as well as the introduction of long-term measures to make sure no woman with a child gets less than the minimum wage. She said there are indications that only the parts of the law covering women with high wages would be changed.
