Belgrade- 'The Law on Extra Profit is directed against persons who got money of primary issue during hyperinflation, who bought hard currencies at the official exchange rates and who obtained import-export licenses when other people couldn't obtain them,' the Democratic Party stated yesterday.
The DP added that as soon as the Law had been passed, obstruction of its implementation started.
'Someone published a list >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Blic << of firms that allegedly have to pay the tax on extra profit and names of people who bought hard currencies to pay medical treatments. It provoked confusion, which suits real profiteers. Several people, who have to pay the highest tax, started a campaign for abolishment of the Law. Organizers of the campaign are bribing politicians and engaging certain journalists. They are trying to assure citizens that 'everyone was suffering losses during Milosevic's rule and that there was no extra profit'. It's not true! Certain businessmen, who have to pay the tax, grew extremely rich during Milosevic's rule and built luxurious villas in posh parts of Belgrade,' the Democratic Party stated.
The DP invited the 'lobbyists', who are spending money on politicians and some media, to pay their debts to the state.
