Opposition: Serbia's Prosecutors must react in Seselj's case
A Serbia’s opposition leader said on Monday that a Serb nationalist and convicted war criminal managed to prove that “a serious misunderstanding exists here.”
Nenad Canak, the leader of Social Democrats League of Vojvodina (LSV) told N1 television that if Vojislav Seselj, “a war criminal sentenced to 10-year imprisonment, can threaten to repeat the very crime he committed 26 years” ago and for which he was on trial, the prosecutor’s office should have reacted.

“Police did their job, but I don’t understand the prosecutor’s office, I don’t understand the judiciary,” Canak said.
He added that the situation in the country where Seselj’s moves were not taken seriously was also beyond comprehension and that it was because the ruling coalition was so broad that it embraced both the left and the right wings.
Nemanja Stjepanovic from the Humanitarian Law Centre shared Canak's opinion, saying that “we don’t have a state which would clearly define what is and what is not acceptable. This (Hrtkovci event) has been a good chance for the state to show it was against it.”
Also speaking to N1 television, Stjepanovic added that Seselj actually succeeded and held a meeting. “If the state does not react it means it puts itself on Seselj’s side,” he said.
