New law undermining pension system
A member of Serbia’s Fiscal Council warned on Tuesday that the changes to the law on the pension system is destroying the pension system which has been in place for decades, adding that the changes could be disputed in court.
Nikola Altiparmarkov said that a new, more generous formula to calculate pensions could have been introduced next year instead of the political decision that was taken to increase pensions.
The Fiscal Council member said that the financial stabilization >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of the pension system allowed for higher pensions as of 2020. “That did not happen because the government decided to abolish the existing formula and introduce a system of monetary increases for pensions. That undermines the integrity of the pension system,” he said.
Altiparmakov said that there are 1.4 employees per pensioner in Serbia.
