Nelson Mandela’s grandson: Love is stronger than hatred
Ndaba Mandela, a grandson of Nelson Mandela who was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and philanthropist, said the respect for his grandfather in the region was significant.
Young Mandela told N1 in Belgrade that his grandfather taught him that if someone could learn to hate, they also could learn to love. Love is a stronger feeling that hatred, Mandela says his grandfatgher told him.

“My grandfather always taught me to be modest. He had great empathy for people. He loved humanity which is why he could sacrifice his own life for the greater good, for the freedom of his country,” he said. Ndaba said his grandfather wanted to tell people to let love rule them and create a united world because we have a common future. “We have to find a way to cooperate all over the world,” he said.
Nelson Mandela died in 2103, at the age of 95. He was the South African President from 1994 to 1999. Before that, he spent 27 years in jail as a political prisoner.
Ndaba is walking his footsteps and was named one of the “28 Men of Change” by US television network BET four years ago at the age of 32.
“I carry with me the values of my grandfather. I am an African, and I know what it means to be an African, and I’m proud of it,” he says.
