NEW INCREASE IN CIGARETTE PRICES: From the 1st July higher taxes
Serbia expects increase in price of cigarettes, and for 2 and a half dinars at least, because of the growth of specific excise.
In addition to this charge which is changed in January and July since 2013 till 2016, there are indications that that some tobacco makers will increase the manufacturing prices, so the pack will cost 10 dinars more.

It is certain that the excise will be increased by 2.5 dinars from 1st July.
- After that we have to define new excise calendar for 2017 because our excise policy is significantly more favorable than the EU standard, with the rate of the excise of 90 euro per 1.000 cigarettes. In Serbia it is 50 euro on 1.000 cigarettes. We need to cross that difference in order for us to join the EU. The state is trying its best not to cause stress - said from the government in Serbia.
In Serbia, for the cigarettes, specific and progressive excise is paid, which is currently 56 dinars and with the new increase it will be 58.5 dinars
The progressive price is 33% on retail price and it will not change till the end of 2016.
