Moscow denies planning to supply S-300 to Serbia
Russia is not planning to supply Serbia with the S-300 anti-aircraft missile defence system at this time, the Srna news agency said on Thursday quoting a statement released in Moscow.
“Deliveries of the Russian anti-aircraft defence system S-300 are not part of the plans and program of bilateral relations between Russia and Serbia,” the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said in its press release.
“We have reviewed the information in some Russian >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << media that Serbia sent an official request for delivery of the S-300 by 2021. That issue is not part of the plans and program of bilateral military-technical cooperation,” it added.
The Russian Tass news agency on Wednesday quoted unnamed military-diplomatic sources who said that Moscow had received a request from Belgrade for two battalions of the S-300 system. Those reports were denied by Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
In its report, Tass recalled that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said last year that Serbia wanted to buy the S-300 AA defence system.
